Metal heat treatments are requested by the customer based on the material characteristics and performance specifications provided in the drawing. Each project has different requirements in terms of hardness, strength and dimensional stability.
At CSLMECCANICA we manage them in collaboration with a network of certified external partners, with whom we collaborate on a stable basis and chosen for their specific expertise on different types of alloys and thermal processes.
We apply hardening treatments to increase surface hardness and wear resistance. We manage the process to contain deformation and residual stresses while maintaining dimensional consistency.
We use nitriding to harden the surface layer without altering the internal structure. This allows us to ensure mechanical stability and durability on components subject to repeated work cycles.
After hardening, we perform tempering to bring the material back into balance between hardness and toughness. We adjust times and temperatures according to the required performance and the type of alloy being treated.
We even out the internal structure of steels with targeted normalization cycles, often necessary after welding, plastic deformation, or to prepare the material for further processing.
We perform annealing cycles to soften the material, improve machinability and remove internal stresses. This is a key step to ensure geometric stability prior to close tolerance machining.
